eskiden saat kullanımı bugünkü kadar yaygın olmadığı dönemlerde insanlar genelde zamanı güneş ya da aynın gökyüzündeki pozisyonlarına göre ifade ediyorlardı. elbette bu durum zamanı insanların farklı yorumlamalarına sebep oluyordu ve mekanik saatle uyumsuzluk yaratıyordu.
